Mountain fishing in Frostviken

Frostviken's mountain world is not just geographically at the top of Jämtland - the sports fishing is among the best that our mountains have to offer.

The Frostviken pass can be purchased, among other places, at the tourist office in Gäddede. The Frostviken pass is also valid on Lillfjället and at Muruhatten.

You can hike the trail outside the hotel past Yttervattnet on towards Övervattnet, where the trail splits.
To the left is a trail to Bäckmytjärnen, and straight ahead it continues towards Muruhattjärn and circles around Övervattensberget. At a small tarn at the Muruhatten mountain, there is a rest cabin.

From the Muruhattstjärnen, the trail continues via a few more tarns before it turns up towards Lillfjälletstop. At the top there is another rest cabin, "Lillfjällsstugan".
Now, the hike continues back and the trail down to Gäddede. The area contains a lot of marshland, so have good shoes on. There are char and trout in the tarns.

Fishing at Renbetesfjället

Many waters on Renbetesfjället are allowed for fishing from 15/6 - 15/9. For more exact information and purchase of fishing licenses online via the county administrative board, click on the map below. Click further on the waters you find interesting.

Nordlikortet - fishing in Lierne, Norway

The fishing is good on the Norwegian side as well. The closest one is Murusjön, with Muruån flowing down to Hetögeln. Why not start there? A rowboat is available for hire by a farmer on the Norwegian side. If you want a little larger boat with a motor, you can rent it from us. In Muruvattnet there are Canadian char, grayling, whitefish, pike, burbot, char, and trout. There are many fishing waters to choose from such as fishing in streams, lakes, tarns, and mountain waters.
